First Administrator – Mr. Chin-Hui Yen

Mr. Chin-Hui Yen(顏金輝), originally from Qieding(茄定鄉) Township, Kaohsiung County, became the first administrator of Yi Yong Temple on January 1, 1996, continuing the spirit of Master Kai Jhong. He served in this capacity until 2014, when he was honored with the title of “Honorary Administrator.” When Mr. Yen first took over, he recognized the need to address land ownership issues related to the temple grounds. Throughout his tenure, he worked to acquire land from the family of Ri-Rong Lan (藍日榮)(descendants of Qing-Tai Lan), ultimately securing the land necessary to complete the temple’s main hall and surrounding areas.
Moreover, Mr. Yen also focused on improving the buildings of the temple: The renovation of the Main Hall, the planning of the monks’ dormitories, the design of the “Wang-Sheng Gong-De Hall” (往生功德堂-Hall for the Merits of the Dead), and the repair of the columbarium were all carried out with great dedication, aiming for perfection in every detail. Additionally, to benefit the local community, Mr. Yen held free Traditional Chinese Medicine Services in 1998, inviting renowned doctors to provide medical consultations and treatments at no charge. The goal was to help relieve both the emotional suffering through the teachings of Buddhism and the physical pain through medical care.
During his tenure, Mr. Jin-Hui Yen was deeply involved in supporting the community, working closely with the government and welfare organizations to aid orphans and those in need. He regularly made donations of rice and supported various social welfare organizations, embodying the compassionate spirit of Buddhism and its commitment to serving others. His efforts ensured that the principles of Buddhism were able to benefit people and that the wheel of Dharma keeps turning.
